That is a question I get quite frequently. The answer is yes, but it is not going to happen overnight or without effort on your part.
Nothing in life is ever free. Just because your business is internet based does not mean it does not take hard work and effort.
That is not to say there are not advantages to an internet business over a standard business.
- Much cheaper to get started.
- Easily scalable.
- Can build part time while you work a full time job.
- Depending on what kind of business you start it can give you long term passive income even if you are not as active in it from time to time.
- Depending on the business you start you do not have to work it constantly. You can take a week off and go on vacation, get back and pick right back up where you started.
- You do not have to have additional employees, unless you want to.
The real question is, do you want to build an internet business? Do you want to put for the 
effort to find success?
There are a number of ways you can make money online. I am not going to try and tell you the best way to earn money online because to a large degree that is a matter of personal preference.
Just a few examples are:
- Build a site to promote someone else’s products. This would be through some sort of affiliate program.
- Build a site to promote your products. These could be physical products you manufacture or ever e-books you are writing.
- Build a site around your blog that you want to sell advertising banners on.
- Online surveys. Not really a business, just a way to make money online.
