How to Build a Website with WordPress
I am going to start out by assuming you already have a hosting platform and website that is WordPress ready. Don’t worry if not, you can skip to the bottom of the page and I will help you out with everything you need to set up and market your website.
Wait…read this before skipping to the bottom or I am wasting my time.
WordPress is a free to use website builder but you have to have a hosting company that is WordPress compatible. You could go to wordpress.com and set up that way, but I am going to show you a better way at the end, because it is not enough to just build a website you have to get people to visit it.
Once you have WordPress set up you can add pages and posts using the menu system. You can also install various plug ins and widgets to do all kinds of things with WordPress, it really is one of the easiest ways to build a website if you are a beginner. I always felt that WordPress was built with blogging in mind but they have a pretty good overall package now. Still great for blogging but also good for overall site development.
First thing you will do is select a theme. It will determine how various elements are arranged on your site. It is the visual aspect of the site. Don’t worry you can change it later if you need to. Many of the themes an plugins are free which is great if you are starting out. Later you might have to purchase ones that work better or give you more flexibility.
Don’t forget the all-in-one SEO pack it is great for getting you ranked on the search engines.
After that you just follow the menu items creating pages and posting blogs. You can add media/pictures to your pages and posts as well.
