How to Become an Influence Marketer

If you found this article then we will assume that you know what an influence marketer is. However, just in case we will tell you.

An influence marketer is a person who has the ability to influence others with their opinions, testimonials or reviews of a product of service. Major companies (and minor ones) are starting to focus their marketing efforts more and more on influence marketers.

This makes sense for the major companies for a variety of reasons. One big reason is it is cheaper and more effective to target a select group of influence marketers as opposed to randomly advertising to the masses.

Television and radio advertisement is probably the most random of the mass advertising strategies and the most expensive. They are also the most difficult to track results.

Website advertising can be a little easier to track but … even with the help of computerized advertising routines that are supposed to target specific groups of the general population based on previous searches or websites visited it is hard to get the attention of the end user. Most of us by default ignore the advertisements on the webpages we visit and even the ones that pop up on our social media feeds.

Advertisers need a way to target users in an inexpensive way that produces results.

That is where the influence marketer comes in. An influence marketer markets the advertiser’s products or services directly to their website or social media following. – or both.

The targeted segment can also probably be broken down by interest depending on how the influence marketer built their following. If an influence marketer is a hunting expert then a potential advertiser can assume that their following will be interested in hunting and hunting products.

What does it take to be an influence marketer?

Many people think you must be a Kardashian or some other celebrity to be an influence marketer. Yes, those people are influence marketer and I am sure you can see how they use their influence to market products and services. Sometimes their own products, sometimes the products of others.

But, you do not have to be a celebrity to be a successful influence marketer. There are other types of influence marketers out there. Below are just a few:

  • Activist. These could be any type dedicated to a cause or movement.
  • Connected People. These are people with a large social media following.
  • Authoritative. These are influencers trusted by others. Many affiliate marketers fall into this group.
  • Trendsetters.
  • Educators
  • Coaches.
  • Entertainers.

Of the list above the ones most anyone can achieve are activist, connected people and authoritative.

Connected people is simply building a large social media following. This includes all forms of social Image result for connected peoplemedia like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc… There are a lot of methods for building your social network and if you provide good content and give it some time you can build your network large enough to be considered an influence marketer.

Activist and authoritative are the two we like to focus on. You can achieve these buy building a website, rising up the search engine ranks and growing your visitors over time. That is what we teach by the way.

Why do you want to be an influence marketer? Money. Once you have built your following you can market items to them and receive commissions though affiliate programs. There are lots of affiliate programs out there like Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-mart and Clickbank just to name a few. There are MANY, MANY others.

You can also make money using advertising from Bing or Google Adsense and a number of other banner advertising companies. You will make money per click or per view from your website over time. We typically use these as supplemental income. The best money comes from affiliates.
